Use of Personal Information

“Process” shall have the meaning set out in the Data Protection Legislation (and “Process” and “Processed” shall be construed accordingly).

Personal Data that You provide to Us, or that We hold about You, Your account or other people living at Your Home will be used and stored in accordance with the Data Protection Legislation.

Your Personal Data will be used for the following purposes which will include, but are not limited to;

  • identifying You when You make telephone enquiries;
  • administering the contract between You and East London Energy Limited, for the provision of services provided by Us to You, including resolving any complaint or dispute;
  • helping Us detect any fraud or loss;
  • providing information to Your landlord and/or the Estate Management Company as applicable about Our relationship with You, such as informing them of any complaint You make to Us or if We intend to suspend the Heat Supply to Your Home; and
  • providing information to the Developer or someone appointed by the Developer to allow the Developer or the person appointed by the Developer to provide the Heat Supply to Your Home.
    This will include transferring relevant information to the Developer or the person appointed by the Developer if Our contractual obligation and/or rights to provide the Heat Supply to the Development are terminated or suspended for any reason.

We shall Process Your Personal Data only to the extent, and in such a manner, as is necessary for the permitted purposes and in accordance with Our Agreement, and We shall not Process the Personal Data for any other purpose, save where the disclosure of the Personal Data is required by law.

In connection with Our Agreement, We may carry out credit and fraud prevention checks with one or more licensed credit reference and fraud prevention agencies and the agencies may retain a record of the search. Unless You are in default of Your payment obligations under this Agreement, We may only carry out such checks once during the term of the Agreement. The records may be linked to records relating to other persons living at the same address and such may be taken into account in credit and fraud prevention checks. Information about the payment details of Your account may be recorded with one or more of credit reference and fraud prevention agencies and that information may be shared with other organisations to help make credit and insurance decisions about You and members of Your household and for debt collection and fraud prevention. If You provide false and inaccurate information and We suspect fraud, We may record this fact.

We may monitor or record any telephone calls You make to Us or We make to You to ensure Service Standards are being met and for the prevention and detection of fraud and unauthorised use.

Your Personal Data will be Processed within the European Economic Area.

Your Personal Data will be retained for no longer than is necessary for the purposes of administering Your account

Your Personal Data will be deleted by Us twelve months following confirmation of the closure of Your account. In certain cases We may retain Your Personal Data for longer, should it be required for the purposes of litigation or in order to meet any other legal obligation We are under.

In accordance with the Data Protection Legislation, You have the right to request from East London Energy Limited access to Your Personal Data. If You wish to exercise the right, please contact the Data Protection Officer at privacy.uk@engie.com

If You notify Us that any Personal Data that We hold about You is inaccurate, We will rectify that inaccurate Personal Data without undue delay.

We do not undertake any automated decision making regarding Your Personal Data that is Processed by Us.

If We have in Your opinion failed or been otherwise unable to resolve any issues or complaint regarding the Processing of Your Personal Data, You have the right to register a complaint with the

Based on the consent provided by you in a manner consistent with applicable regulations and on this privacy notice, we may use your personal information to:
