Rather than everyone owning and maintaining gas boilers in their homes, East London Energy has constructed a centrally-managed energy centre that produces all of the areas heating and hot water requirements and distributes it to homes and businesses via a network of highly insulated pipes.
Part of this heat generated is a by-product of super-efficient electricity generation on site – something that conventional power stations would normally waste. This efficiency, coupled with the use of some renewable forms of energy, result in much lower greenhouse gas emissions, thereby reducing the effects on the environment.
